Spelt
Spelt (Triticum aestivum var. spelta) is a sub-species of common wheat. It has been grown in Europe for about 300 years. Spelt was introduced to the United States in the 1890s, according to Alternative Field Crops Manual.

- Fungicide labels - Spelt is very susceptible to loose smut, making a fungicide application necessary. Dividend XL and Raxil-Thiram are both effective on loose smut. See their Pesticide Labels. A certified seed treater/conditioner must make the fungicide application to spelt seed.
